Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial Park Ranger Bob Zimmerman of Lincoln City took a break from shearing Bernie, a Leicester long-wool sheep, at the living historical farm Saturday in Lincoln City. Zimmerman and others spent the morning shearing one of the farm’s five adult sheep and cleaning his wool to be spun into yarn. The farm plans to shear the remaining four sheep over the next few weekends if the weather permits.

Northeast Dubois High School students took turns sliding down a giant slip-and-side during Friday’s fun day at the school in Dubois. The student council sponsored the Amazing Race-style event to help students relax before final exams. Students divided into groups to participate in events, including the slip-and-slide positioned on a hill descending from the baseball field. Classes in all five local school districts end this week.

Betty Kreilein of Jasper whispered into the ear of her husband, Jim, during Wednesday evening’s Respect for Law Dinner and Law Enforcement Candlelight Memorial at the Arnold F. Habig Center in Jasper. The Kreileins attended the event in memory of Jim’s father, former Dubois County Sheriff Louis Kreilein, who died in 1954.
